GOVERNMENT KIRSTEN SUTTON MORK NAMED CFPB CHIEF OF STAFF In January, Kirsten Sutton Mork was named Chief of Staff of the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB). is appointment fills the position last held by Leandra English. In her new role, Mork will be joining another previous Jeb Hensarling aide, Brian Johnson, who took a job as Senior Adviser to Mick Mulvaney from his previous role as Senior Counsel of the U.S. House Financial Services Committee (HFSC). In addition, Hensarling himself has been named as a possible permanent replacement as CFPB Director. On the HFSC, Shannon McGahn will succeed Mork, leaving her position as Counselor to Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin. Paul Compton Jr. to become HUD's General Counsel, Suzanne Israel Tufts to be Assistant Secretary for the Office of Administration, Leonard Wolfson as Assistant Secretary for Congressional and Intergovernmental Relations, and Irving Dennis to serve as CFO. Welch as head of the Human Resources, Diversity & Inclusion (HRDI) division and Chief Diversity Officer (CDO). In her expanded role, Welch will be a member of the company's Senior Operating Committee and will report directly to Freddie Mac CEO Donald H. Layton. Welch, who joined Freddie Mac in December 2016, brings more than 20 years' experience in HR strategy and execution. In her role as CDO, Welch will lead Fred- die Mac's diversity and inclusion strategy for its workforce and supplier diversity programs, as well as across business activities. LENDERS/SERVICERS TD BANK APPOINTS RICK BECHTEL AND SCOTT LINDNER Toronto-Dominion Bank (TD Bank) has appointed two senior executives, Rick Bechtel and Scott Lindner, as it looks to expand in the mortgage market. Bechtel and Lindner bring estab- lished mortgage industry experience and key senior leadership to TD, as the bank aims to drive growth, hire new talent, and expand its suite of lending offerings. Rick Bechtel, who has been appointed as Executive VP by the New Jersey-headquartered bank, will head the bank's U.S. mortgage business, while Scott Lindner will head the bank's sales as National Sales Director. Bechtel has more than 27 years' banking and management experience, most recently serving as Managing Director, Head of Mortgage Banking, at CIBC. Lindner has 30 years' experience in the financial services industry and most recently served as SVP, Head of Retail Banking at Scottrade.
