A half-million homeowners regained equity in Q2 and home equity increased 10 percent over last
year, according to Corelogic's latest Home Equity Report. But 3.6 million properties still remain
underwater, and a fifth have low equity. The report found that 548,000 U.S. homeowners regained
equity in Q2, bringing the percentage of homes with positive equity to 93 percent for all mortgaged
properties‒‒approximately 47 million homes. Nationwide, home equity grew year over year by $646
billion since Q2 2015.
