3 TheFiveStar.com | CoalitionConnection Introducing the Default Title Coalition Inaugural Advisory Board F ive Star's experience with professional groups has demonstrated that one of the factors for success is participation and leader- ship from the members, the people who know intimately the intricacies of their market. An important channel for direction is an advisory board, a team of members who contribute ideas and guidance for goals and objectives. Five Star is proud to announce the first Board of Advisors for the Default Title Coalition. "e board will be meeting via phone conference in the next few weeks to map plans for 2014. For example, the Spring Forum for the Coalition is set for April 16 in Dallas, and we'll be working on the program for the meeting. Please join me in welcoming the following members of the board (in alphabetical order by company name). If you are not serving on the board at this time, please be assured that there is plenty of room for contribution and recognition. We desire input from all members, including, for example, ideas for our members in the areas marketing, education, and regulation. If you have thoughts, please do not hesitate to share them with Brent Lockhart, at Brent.Lockhart@ "eFiveStar.com or any board member. I've heard a number of encouraging and inspiring comments about the timely beginning for such an organization for title companies, about the benefits of title training for clients, about the demands created by changes in the industry, about the necessity of a voice for title and closing professionals, about the debate on whether "default" should remain in our name, and about the desire for opportunities to build strategic industry and client relationships. Our goals, based on member input , are basi- cally two-fold: 1. Create opportunities for member compa- nies to build their businesses, through the events, avenues, and media of "e Five Star Institute. 2. Produce a forum for discussing best practices and professional development. In the coming weeks, you'll watch our efforts to accomplish these objectives begin to take shape. See the enclosed introduction to the Coali- tion's new Advisory Board. Take note of the date for our Spring Forum in April. Read input from several of your peers about timely topics. And get ready to contribute ideas of your own to the dynamic opportunity of building a new platform of influence for title and closing companies. We look forward to all that the new year will bring. —Brent Lockhart National Director, Default Title Coalition "Compliance Is the word for 2014— for us in title and closing as well." —Jaime Kosofsky, Brady & Kosofsky
