VaultLOCKS combined the best of both to offer a better solution to property managers of all sizes—from huge commercial clients all the way to AirBnB hosts. VaultLOCKS, a Cleveland, Ohio-based subsidiary of MFS Supply, began selling an affordable, durable range of lockboxes to real estate agents and property preservation contractors in 2007. "If you had asked me if I believed the IoT would have come for the lockbox market back when we started VaultLOCKS, I would have heartily disagreed," admits Jay Klein, General Manager of VaultLOCKS. "But I credit my team with recognizing early an amazing opportunity with the rise of smart homes and smart devices. ey came to me with 'we make great lockboxes, now let's make them smart.'" THE SMART LOCKBOX ree years after the team decided to create a smart, electronic lockbox, the VaultLOCKS eLockbox System was completed. During the engineering and creation process, VaultLOCKS regularly questioned, polled, and surveyed their existing mechanical lockbox customer base. What did they use lock boxes for? What could be improved? How did they feel about remote access? Using Bluetooth to open a lockbox? eir persistence paid off—VaultLOCKS identified the gap in the growing market. No one was offering an affordable solution, no strings attached. FILLING THE GAP VaultLOCKS built their product and service around giving property managers a third option in the marketplace. Each lockbox is priced affordably, with a small subscription fee per box for using the cutting-edge software portal. No 10-year contracts, no permanent hardware, no unnecessary expenses. Just a secure, scalable solution. PAYING ATTENTION TO DETAILS eir dedicated customer base had also offered a wealth of knowledge on features, details, and options they were looking for in a remote access solution: Time limits to viability of codes, visibility into code usage per property, permanent Bluetooth access for maintenance employees, visibility into maintenance employee access to properties, simple-to-use software, and a customer service team to contact with any questions or issues. VaultLOCKS implemented it all in their eLockbox System. CUSTOMER FEEDBACK "I needed a solution where I could securely hand off access to my colleagues when I'm out of office," states Gary Johnson, a Florida-based property manager. "VaultLOCKS met the bill. I've since purchased for each property, with extra on hand. And I know I can always reach out to my rep Pete for anything." GOING FORWARD With thousands of VaultLOCK's eLock- boxes in use across the nation, VaultLOCKS looks towards a future in supporting govern- ment agencies, including HUD and FEMA. "Government agencies like HUD are looking for solutions to improve security and ac- cess control, without a huge price tag. Our VaultLOCKS eLockbox is tried and tested, and we're ready to scale to the next level," states Brandon Guzman, President of MFS Supply.
